Rafeef Saffaf

Rafeef Saffaf was born in Aleppo in 1982 and grew up in a cultured family that loved the arts. She spent her early years between music institutes, art centres, and heritage associations in Aleppo. She studied architectural engineering at Aleppo University and specialised in her master’s thesis in the conservation and rehabilitation of old cities. She was a lecturer at her university for eight years. The war forced her to leave Aleppo for Turkey, leaving behind her beloved city and an unfinished PhD thesis. She specialised in project management for water, sanitation, and shelter, working as a project manager in the humanitarian sector for more than nine years. She also lectured at Gaziantep University for more than five years. Her passion for music led her to become part of the cultural family of the Nefes Foundation and a student of singing and vocalism.v
